WhatsApp updated for iPhone and Android users, 7 things to know



Facebook-owned WhatsApp recently updated its platform support page for different mobile operating systems. The popular instant messaging app updated its support page after the rollout of Apple iOS 13 late last month.

The support pages of WhatsApp lists operating systems that WhatsApp offers support for as well as the ones it no longer support for or plans to end in the coming months.

Here are the major developments:
1. WhatsApp update for Apple iPhone requires iOS 9 or later versions
2. WhatsApp will stop support for all iPhones running on iOS 8 and iOS 7 on February 1, 2020
3. WhatsApp does not support iPhones using modified versions of the Apple's operating system iOS
4. WhatsApp is ending support for all Android phones running on versions 2.3.7 and older version on February 1, 2020
5. Users will not be able to use WhatsApp on all Windows Phone operating systems after December 31, 2019
6. WhatsApp supports Android phones running Android 2.3.3 or later
7. WhatsApp has stopped support for all iPhones running on Apple iOS 6
